Feedback!

Hi crafters!

I am looking for some feedback on Rachel's Minis to get ideas for this summer. If you have any ideas/suggestions/tutorial requests, or if you just want to send me virtual chocolate ;), I have the form just for you! You can go fill it out HERE. It should take no more than five minutes.

Your feedback is appreciated! Have a wonderful, creative day!

  1. I am totally new... Haven't even started yet... I need to make zillions of chocolates for a chocolate shop. If they are in scale they would be about 1/12 th inch which just seems impossible. What size would look OK? How long do they take to cook? Any tips would be welcome. Thanks, Marilyn

  2. Hi Marilyn! First of all, welcome to the clay world! ;) Glad to hear you're starting! Okay... so if I am correct, 1/12 th inch is VERY tiny. If you are planning on selling your chocolate bars for doll food, I would recommend keeping it as close to the 1:12 ratio as possible (standard doll house scale). But if it's for something like jewelry or a keychain, I would make it a bit bigger.

If you haven't already, I would recommend choosing a pretty standard size chocolate bar, measure it, and then calculate the 1:12 ratio. If you're really going for accurate scale size and it really is going to be tiny, maybe try using a magnifying glass? And very tiny tools? And of course patience.

If your chocolates aren't just chocolate bars, maybe try taking measurements of real food that you are trying to re-create and do the same calculations to get the correct scale.

Here is a link talking about the different scale sizes that you can use: http://nancysworld.net/mydollhouses/scale.html

The temperature and time varies with the size of your clay creation and the kind of clay you are using. I recommend reading the instructions on the clay package.

Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask! :)
